I feel grateful and honored to have been part of a very special, heartfelt celebration of the marriage of our friends Silvio and Danielle.
Silvio, an American of Honduran and Guatemalan descent, and Danielle, an Australian, have started their new life together in Hong Kong. For their wedding celebration, they brought 15 of their friends and family from literally around the world to Ireland. We all spent a few days together ahead of the wedding, staying at Bansha Castle, exploring the beautiful countryside during the day and cooking for each other and visiting the local pubs at night.
What a way to start a life together!

Today I’m grateful that:
- So many of Alex and Eakta’s friends and family were able to join them for some, if not all, of the three days of wedding festivities, and Alex and Eakta somehow managed not to keel over from exhaustion (at least, not publicly).
- I discovered a new musician, Brian McTear of Bitter Bitter Weeks, in the most unexpected place, strumming the guitar and singing “You Paralyze My Heart” for Alex and Eakta’s first dance. The voice sounded so smooth and clear, I was stunned to realize it wasn’t a recording.
- My feet held up for day three of Alex and Eakta’s wedding celebration, allowing me to enjoy plenty of dancing to finish off the night!

Today I’m grateful that:
- We found the most delicious — albeit entirely unhealthy and fattening — breakfast place in Houston, Le Peep, thanks to foursquare.
- This baby arrived safely in his mother’s arms after being enthusiastically abducted for the purposes of dancing by an “uncle” during the baraat at the wedding of our friends Alex and Eakta.

Today I’m grateful that:
- I gained a wonderful new sister-in-law, Jen. I truly couldn’t be happier to have her as part of our family. She is generous, thoughtful, cheerful, welcoming, and warm. The first time I met her, I felt like I had known her forever. Sounds totally cliche, but it’s entirely true.
- Jen and Charlie are perfect for each other. They make me believe in the whole “some things are meant to be” philosophy.
- Despite some stress (I’ll say it again — it’s unavoidable), everything worked out perfectly in the end for Charlie and Jen’s wedding. It’s been rainy and gray all week, but the sky cleared and the sun shone down today on several hundred people gathered to wish them all the best, and that’s what they deserve. Introducing (another) Mr. and Mrs. Capellman!
