Today I’m grateful that: It’s the last day of 2008. I have had enough of 2008. Bring on 2009, please! Chad received some Best Buy gift cards that allowed us to buy the first season of Mad Men on DVD. So, while the snow fell steadily all day and most of the night, we were able to finally finish watching this dark, f-ed up, brilliant show. Robbie Maddison did not die. I had no idea...

Today I’m grateful that: I was able to spend more time with Heath and Ker! I had to go to my doctor’s office right before lunchtime, and I entered just as the staff found out someone was buying them pizza for lunch. You’d have thought someone had told them they just won the lottery. They were seriously thrilled! Reminded me to be happy about the little things. Lunch at the...

Today I’m grateful that: No accidents were caused during the trip from Quincy to Hampton, NH, and back in the U-Haul truck. This is an accomplishment. Trust me. I didn’t get smacked during the “packing” process at my grandmother’s house. I probably deserved to once or twice or more. ;) All of the people at the Old Salt restaurant in Hampton have treated my...

Today I’m grateful that: Preparation for hosting our extended Sullivan family Christmas gathering was relatively easy, especially considering that we didn’t get home til last night. I’m grateful for baked pasta dishes that can be made early, and grateful for Chad and Heather for helping me out! I thought the invite said the party started at 3pm, when it actually said it started...

Today I’m grateful that: I was able to make it through lunch with my in-laws at Fuddruckers without thinking too much about the movie “Idiocracy.” If you’ve seen the movie, you know what I mean. If you haven’t seen the movie, you should! My parents dug us out of ice and snow while we were in D.C. so that we didn’t have to deal with it when we got home tonight....

Today I’m grateful that: We were able to celebrate Christmas with Chad’s family in Maryland, who we don’t get to spend a lot of time with (obviously) on a regular basis. An unforgettable Christian moment. He will probably be tortured with recounts of it for the rest of his life. I will not go into it here, but it provided us with many, many laughs. Shamwow! I don’t know...

Today I’m grateful that: We were able to meet up with old friend Neil Greenberger. Always an entertaining and insightful time with Neil! We actually had all of our Christmas gifts bought AND wrapped BEFORE today! A beautiful, peaceful, inspiring Christmas Eve service at Aspen Hill Christian Church. As always on Christmas Eve, the minister, Bob, invited the kids to sit with him while for a...

Today I’m grateful for: Due to our flight issues, we had to cancel a get-together with a bunch of D.C. peeps on Saturday night since, you know, we were still in Boston. But, tonight we were able to meet up with a bunch of people for dinner and drinks. Grateful to still be able to see so many people, and grateful that Chad has stayed close to so many great Terps.

Today I’m grateful that: We finally finished all of our Christmas shopping! We got to spend some time with Charlie and his new girlfriend Jen, and Mandy and little Sebastian. We capped the night off with Pete and Karen — always good company!

Today I’m grateful that: Our flight was about two hours delayed due to lack of flight crew, but we still were able to make it out of Boston just in time, just as the snow started falling AGAIN. Pretty sure if we were delayed a half-hour more, we would have been stuck in Boston another day. Getting to hang out with Silvio before he went to Texas for the holidays, and finally meeting...

So, our afternoon flight to D.C. for our nephew’s dedication tomorrow morning and for the Christmas holiday was cancelled due to the never-ending snow in Boston. We were given no hope of getting out today, but were put on an early morning flight tomorrow that, if all goes well, will get us into D.C. in time to get to church fo the dedication. Of course, I am not grateful for this turn of...

Today I’m grateful that: I was able to get in and out of a doctor’s appointment before the snow even started. My doctor and his student assistant have a good sense of humor. I find that always helps! I can hear again! And not worry too much about getting on a plane tomorrow and having my eardrum explode!

Today I’m grateful that: Today marks five months since I last worked full-time in an office. No, I am not grateful for that, but in thinking about that I would like to remind myself that despite this, we still have our house, and our sanity (most days), and I’m not working at McDonald’s (yet), so for that I am grateful. My husband likes my cooking. At least, he tells me he...

Today I’m grateful that: My doctor is smart/considerate enough to ask whether I want to be prescribed the expensive or cheap version of medication for my ear infection. Cheap, please! Receiving Christmas cards. It’s nice to receive mail that is not bills! My friend Krissy gave birth to a healthy baby boy!

Today I’m grateful for: A fellow unemployed friend who is willing (happily!) to sit around all day and watch trash TV. Trash TV that makes me feel better about my life. Thanks, Maury and Steve! A good book as a distraction.

Today I’m grateful that: Christmas only comes around once a year, because I don’t think I could write out that many Christmas cards more than once! My grandmother has taken the first step to moving to an assisted living facility closer to our family, where she will be safe and hopefully happy! Meeting another new little person, my friend Shelley’s second boy, Ethan, and seeing...

Today I’m grateful: Chad did most of the clean-up this morning from our Web 2.0h Shit! Party while I laid around wondering why I did not eat dinner last night but did manage to drink a fair amount of vodka. At least the vodka was good vodka. Makes the hangover a tad bit more bearable. Thanks, Swanny! (oh, the irony) Despite the ups and downs of working on the Web, especially lately, our...

Today I’m grateful that: Bed, Bath and Beyond accepts so many coupons. Otherwise my Yankee Candle fixation would have to be abolished, and my house would not smell as nice. My grandmother is no longer sitting in her powerless, cold house. I am not so grateful for the ice storm that caused this problem, but I suppose that comment should not be on this blog. I slipped. Oops! The sun finally...

Today I’m grateful for: Seeing the sun and some blue sky, even if it was brief! Homemade Nuts and Bolts/Chex Mix/Nibble Mix, which makes eating buttery cereal acceptable at any time of the day! (even if my diet would disagree) People who work with Alzheimer’s/dementia patients.  What an unbelievably challenging thing to do every day. To do it with such kindness and cheer really...

Today I’m grateful that: Chad seems officially recovered from his wisdom tooth surgery. I am sure I could not be this awesome of a patient. An old friend who always responds to my Facebook status updates, even — especially — when they’re not too cheerful. You know who you are. We finished the day with The Office, 30 Rock, and the Daily Show. Good to end the day with some...

Today I’m grateful that: My parents were able to talk to my sister, brother-in-law, and nephews in Toronto for more than a half-hour without paying a cent. A much-needed distraction! Thank you, Skype. Chad continues to be the best wisdom tooth patient ever. The mall was a bit of a downer today. So I’m going to focus on the positive, that I’m pretty confident no one in our...

Today I’m grateful that: Chad’s wisdom tooth surgery went off without a hitch. Chad has been the best patient ever, even after the medication wore off. The nurses all got quite a chuckle out of him. I got quite a chuckle out of him. He got quite a chuckle out of him. We finally discovered 30 Rock, and had a couple of them in the DVR for some post-op watching. I have to say,...

Today I’m grateful for: Meeting an amazing little person, Kara’s son Finn, even if he looked at me like I was crazy.  So what if I am? Deal with it. I still love you, Finn! Tracy for being the Dog Whisperer. A wonderful dinner with an old random friend (that’s a compliment, Andrew!) even if the pumpkin beer had no pumpkin taste whatsoever, and I totally froze my %$&#*...

Today I’m grateful that: The Patriots pulled out a nice win today to keep things interesting. We got just enough snow to make it look pretty without having to do any real shoveling. Rachel saw the ice on the front steps but did not fall on it. Whew.

Today I’m grateful for: Nibbles mix from Wilkie! She never fails. Very deep, thoughtful discussion with my girls at book club. ;) Having one of those trees that come in three pieces with the lights already on them. Way better this way! (Yea, I know it’s not real, but it lasts longer!)

Today I’m grateful for: A laptop, so I don’t have to use our elderly, painfully slow and cranky PC all the time. OJ’s finally gonna spend some time in jail, even if it’s not for what he should be shackled for. Lewis Black. Never fails.

Today I’m grateful for: An old — and by old, I mean, longtime! — friend who is willing to meet me out wherever, whenever, and listen to whatever is going on in my life. It is vital to my sanity. Caretakers. Way underrated. To say the least. Pandora. Good distraction.

Yea, I know, I’m delayed. I ended up not having time to post before happy hour and thankfully, forgot about it after happy hour.  So, today I’m grateful for: Not drunk blogging. Who knows what I would have been thankful for after a couple of Victor’s hot shots. Chad for coming to Waltham, sitting for awhile with my former co-workers who had been imbibing for four-plus hours at...

Today I’m grateful: That my grandmother has so many good people watching out for her, and that so many of her memories are happy ones. That Chad and I have our health, for the most part. An achy tooth and a little bursitis — it’s really nothing. That, after feeling pretty down most of the day, I ended up laughing louder and longer than I have in recent memory thanks to...

Today I’m grateful for: I actually got two e-mails today about jobs. One is resulting in a phone call about a job tomorrow. These are the things I get excited about after at least a few weeks with a whole lot of nothing about jobs. Thanks, Economy! And thanks, couple of weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas when people think they might actually be able to hire someone! E-mails from...
