Today I’m grateful that my sister has recovered enough from Tuesday’s surgery to go home and continue her recovery where she wants to be — with her boys.
I’m also reminded of how lucky we are to have such an amazing extended family full of love and support. Very lucky, indeed.

Not My World... Thankfully →
Monday, January 2, 2012
Today I’m grateful that I live in a world where THIS limited mentality of husband vs. wife, man vs. woman, is fading into oblivion.
I’ll give the writer credit: I believe to be true one of the main points in the blog post, that being respected by their partner is usually of significant importance to a man in a relationship. I believe this because my husband...

Today I’m grateful to see months of hard work come to fruition with the launch of our LinkedIn Group about managing trademarks and brands on the internet. Witnessing genuine excitement in reaction to this launch from a wide variety of internal folks was just the icing on the cake.

Today I’m grateful for the best weather New England has ever experienced on Columbus Day Weekend in the history of … ever.
I swam in the ocean today. In Massachusetts. In October.
Enough said.

Today I’m grateful for the best reality show in existence, one that shows that reality television can, in fact, be good television while being filled with good people you’d actually want to spend time with in real REAL life.
Congrats to Season 8’s winner, Melanie Moore, as well as the other finalists, Sasha, Marko, and Tadd.
This is just one of the many great dances this...

Grateful for @NanCola’s sharing of good shit like this…
From Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair (translated by W.S. Merwin):
My words rained over you, stroking you. A long time I have loved the sunned mother-of-pearl of your body. I go so far as to think that you own the universe. I will bring you happy flowers from the mountains, bluebells, dark hazels, and rustic baskets of...

Today I’m grateful for:
People who have virtually nothing who are still inclined to give to others. It really amazes and impresses me.
Friends who have a sick sense of humor, causing laughter to the point of crying in the middle of a work day.
I’ll take all the rain we’re getting today and expecting in the next few days, with the hope that it will all be done by the time my...

Today I’m grateful for:
New beginnings.
Moving forward.
Choosing happiness.
When I started my original blog more than two and a half years ago, I did it for entirely personal reasons, even though I chose to do in a public space. If other people read and responded to it, cool, but that wasn’t the goal.
When I first started blogging, there were speed bumps on virtually every road...

Today I’m grateful for … A negative that ultimately turned into a positive. At the end of what had already been a very trying day yesterday, I happened to see an extremely depressing TV commercial for a Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) drug similar to the one I’m taking for my Psoriatic Arthritis (PA). The commercial showed a woman playing a piano, which suddenly starts crumbling and...

Today I’m grateful that:
I have such a generous, helpful brother, and am lucky enough that he lives so close to me. I really needed his help tonight, and he dropped what he was doing and came right over to help me, without so much as a pause. I’m so grateful. He helped what was a crappy situation be less stressful, and I can’t put into words how much I needed that after a day...

Today I’m grateful that:
Despite a long, late and difficult night bleeding into the morning, Chad and I eventually made it to church and were able to spend time talking with Bob, the minister who married us and has been like a second father to Chad throughout his life. Hard to imagine having left Maryland without getting some words of wisdom from Bob to try to help us sort out the events of...

Today I’m grateful that:
My loyal reader Rachael and her husband Tom brought a healthy, and dare I say hefty 10 pound 3 ounce, baby boy into the world today. Welcome to Thomas Joseph! I bet big sisters Jane and Anna will get a kick out of him, and I can’t wait to meet him!
So many of Chad’s friends from his time working at the University of Maryland’s newspaper, The...

Tonight I’m grateful that:
I have two awesome friends like Tracy and Liz who understand intrinsically that Celebrity Rehab is quality television worthy of getting together for the sole purpose of viewing it. Holla!

Today I’m grateful that:
My mom is home from the hospital. Though coming home is not without some concerns, I’m hopeful that getting back into a normal sleeping routine and being in a home environment will help her mental well-being. She’s been in either the hospital or a rehab center for almost a month straight, which is just not a recipe for fun!

Today I’m grateful that:
There are women like 83-year-old Bev, who not only danced her touche off on national television in a little dress, but finished it off with some push-ups. Oh, and a younger man. :) Damn!
Paula Abdul is back on my television, mostly missing her hands as she claps, making cheesy and/or wacky comments, and getting overly emotional. It’s not American Idol,...

Today I’m grateful that:
My mother made it through surgery successfully. There were two possible outcomes. One would mean being quite uncomfortable for 2-3 months and then back in the hospital for another surgery. Luckily she will not be dealing with that outcome.
Good thing the spleen is mostly not important, because my mom no longer has one!

Today I’m grateful that:
Chad got me the John Adams HBO miniseries for Christmas, and being snowed in the last few days has allowed us to already finish the whole thing. Truly fascinating look at the birth of our country, the lasting relationship between John and Abigail Adams, and the long friendship between John and Thomas Jefferson. Couldn’t recommend it more highly!
I grew up...
